The one thing every online marketer, business, site owner wants to know almost more than anything else, how to increase web traffic. You might have the greatest product, business plan or sales funnel in the world, however if you don’t know how to increase traffic to your web site then you don’t have a business.
In this post I am going to show you how to increase web site traffic using easy, powerful and proven ways that anyone can do to increase their web site traffic for FREE.
Also as a bonus I am going to share with a very underground, little known secret method of getting truck loads of buyers to your site! That’s right I am going to show you where the buyers hangout and how you can getting them begging to get to your site to see what you have to offer with their credit cards in hand.
But first the methods I am going to share with you how to increase web traffic are all free methods, they are not sexy and fancy but they WORK.
Anyone can do these methods and as you grow your business you may want to outsource these techniques to a virtual assistance or an employee if you have them.
Warning: Before I share with you how to increase web traffic I want to say that these methods work like gangbusters, they are simple yet very powerful. The warning I want to say however is the real key to these methods is that they you must be consistent in doing them. These are not methods you can do once and them sit back watching all the money pour in. These methods are proven to work and will continue to work, the affects compound over time and for the people who are consistent they see huge floods of traffic over the long term and create a very strong foundation of consistent targeted traffic.
With that said let’s get on with how to increase web traffic.
Blog Commenting: Overview
Whatever niche you are in there are people blogging about it, if you haven’t noticed the internet is becoming a lot more social and interactive. People are having conversations about everything and what you want to do is contribute to these conversations. Leaving a comment on a blog with a link to your website is a great way of generating traffic. Humans are curious creatures we often want to know what others are doing. If someone likes what you say they will click on your link to find out more about you. Blog commenting will also create a back link to your website, which is great for SEO purposes.
Tips:
- Find popular blogs that get lots of traffic
- Find blogs that have a lot of interaction e.g. other people leaving comments
- Be respectful to the blog and its audience – ad value or a compliment, etc
- Find blogs with a high PageRank for SEO purposes.
- In Google type in ‘keyword + blog’ to find a list of blogs related to your niche
- Set a schedule to do 3 – 5 comments on as many blogs a day. (be consistent)
- Don’t pitch your website
- Don’t spam
Yahoo Answers: Overview
Yahoo answers gets loads of traffic about a huge broad range of topics, most niches are covers and what you want to do is answer question from people in your niche market and direct them to your website or an affiliate site. This will also create a back link to your site and can work similar to an article meaning that you can generate traffic from good answers for weeks and months after wards. It also can show that are a leader in your field contributing and offering others value.
Tips:
- Subscribe to the RSS feed and add it in your iGoogle or MyYahoo so you can always get the latest answers posted.
- Only answer questions that are still open, where the best answer has NOT yet been chosen.
- Be informative and helpful.
- Always include a link to where you want the reader to go in the answer and in the resources box
- Create the habit of answering 5 – 10 questions a day.
- Don’t spam
- Can be a great way to do research in your niche and find out what are the biggest problems or questions people have in your niche.
Forum Marketing: Overview
Forums are a great way to generate targeted traffic to your website and help you grow a list. It is a great way to contribute to a community, offer others value and be recognized as a leader and build relationships and credibility. Simple set up a great signature; this is like a small advertisement for your business or product. That appears at the bottom of every topic you start or reply to. This is a very powerful way to get targeted traffic.
Tips:
- Find very active forums to participate in.
- Don’t spam the forum be a contributing member.
- Post in 3 forums a day
Some good topics to post about:
- Ask a question
- Answer a question
- Make a suggestion
- Provide an opposing view
- Agree with a post
- Suggest a resource
- Post a YouTube video
- Provide an insider tip
As you can see all these methods are simple, won’t cost you anything and anyone can do them, as I stated before however to really see results floods of traffic you must be consistent. One of my mentors said to me that if you want something that others do0n’t have you must do what others are not prepared to do, most people learn about this methods and because they are not sexy they don’t do them. Do not fall in to this trap, I am the first to admit they are not fancy and sexy but they DO work and they work great if you are consistent.
Try doing one method a day for an hour of total focus, if you do this at the end of a month you will see a big difference in the amount of traffic you can generate, and after 90 days you will be astonished.

But I am quite surprised that the topic of using Google’s free traffic tools does not spring up yet? You however, have brought a few up… Thanks!
I have been using their free tools, like Google Alerts, Trends, Keyword Tools – to name just a few… and they seem to be working just fine for me.
I receive tons of ‘laser targeted’ traffic coming to ME with this strategy and I can then offer the viewer exactly what they are looking for…
I build leads, grow my list building and have a good customer base in a couple of my niches this way…

I also use a lot of Google’s free tools like keyword tool and insights, etc and find them extremely helpful. I left them out of this post as it was starting to drag on and I thought I would include them in another post. Thank you for your feedback, always appreciated.

Great post. In addition to generating tons of traffic to your site through search engines, one other quick and sure method to driving highly targeted traffic to your site is to create a highly targeted list of keywords using free Google tools that apply to your product or services. After you have generated a couple of those keywords then formulate them into question format, for instance “How do I get web traffic” and then write 350 to 450 words articles and post them to different article directories. and very useful only on one condition if you know how to use them
